Qu Yuan
They said you were a lonely poet
They said you had a depressed soul
The age you passed by, was it in such solitude as I imagine?
Is there your thought in water like a slowly roaming fish?Hums of mortal world covering on you
So much helplessness gone with the meandering
On earth do you prefer lying eternally in the river of present
Or the touching hand in expectation to loosen your anxious face? What the feelings of laughing at this world
What the sorrow of keeping mind clear amongst drunkards
Flowing river has taken the ancient bleakness away
Along the shore I walk alone to and fro instead of your woe in riverCries from dragonboats draw ripples on water
Reminiscence passes through and forgets you immediately
Perhaps you’ll enjoy the fragrance of zongzi in every Liuyue
Probably you’re awaiting another experience of seeing the sunshine over

Author’s comments:
Liuyue(榴月,Liúyuè)is a classical expression referring to the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. Not to be confused with “Liùyuè”(六月,the sixth month of both CLC and Gregorian calendar ).
