在离开前的一段时间。
just before.. prior to leaving..

he was right into it.

I never thought that he would stop suddenly and don’t play.

But something happened.

Something really clicked in him
他再也不想弹琴了。
and he didn’t want to play anymore.
我问过他几次
I’ve asked him several times
他从不解释。
and he never gave any reason.
他说：“我就是不想再弹琴了。”
He said, “I just don’t feel like playing no more.”
那无论是什么，都压垮了他
Whatever ailed him just overwhelmed him
他非常消沉，我觉得那不是愤怒
and he just withdrew. I don’t think it was an anger
或者..无关音乐。
or a…about music.
它和音乐没有关系。
It had nothing to do with music.
是他自己，他的精力，他的观点，他的生活。
It was him and his energy and his outlook and his life.
唯独不是关乎音乐，比如“我总是不得要领”之类
Nothing to do with music like “I haven’t got it anymore.”
我知道不是那样的。我虽然不能知其所想，
I know it wasn’t that. I’m not in his brain
但是绝对不可能是因为音乐方面的原因。
but that could never have been what it was.

This was the first year he lived here. 1972.

He never said it again.

and he was in a coma for 12 days.

And he passed away very quietly in his sleep.
