我脑子里有了个主意
A lightbulb went on in my head.

I asked myself,
为什么自闭症就意味着停止做所有事
Why does autism have to mean the shutting down of everything?
它为什么不能成为冒险的开始
Why couldn’t it be a gateway into adventure?
也许甚至是痊愈的开始
Maybe even a gateway into healing?
可能听起来很怪
It may sound odd,
但我和传统治疗打过交道
But I have something of a history with traditional healing.
在我跟布希人间工作的过程中
In the course of my work with the Bushmen,
在过去的10年
I had, during the previous 10 years,
我被允许进入他们的世界
Been introduced into their world
他们通过萨满治愈疾病
of healing through the use of a Shaman.
布希人 还有其他像他们一样的民族
The Bushmen, and many peoples like them,
通过受训练的萨满解决精神困惑
Address their spiritual dilemmas,
身体病痛
their health dilemmas,
社交难题 甚至是政♥治♥问题
their social dilemmas, even their political dilemmas, through the use of a trained shaman,
萨满进入催眠状态
who enters a state of trance,
与神灵对话 然后带着答案醒来
Talks to the spirits, and comes back with an answer.
尽管听上去很不可信
As unbelievable as it may sound,
在我跟布希人一起工作的几年
in my years of working with the Bushmen,
我看到过很多次
I have seen many times,
人们通过这种方式治好了各种疾病
people cured of a variety of illnesses this way.

So I asked myself,
这世上有没有一个地方
was there a place on earth

that combined this kind of Shamanic healing with horses?

I did some research.

It turned out that the place where horseback riding actually originated…

Where Shamanism is in fact the state religion.

I’d expected the open steppe.

Not an urban slum.

I think it wasn’t exactly Rowan’s vision of Mongolia.
