禁忌
日晒雨淋中
Under the rain and scorching sun,
一个忧郁的人
a melancholic creature
在丛林和旱地里艰难跋涉数月
treks through jungles and arid lands for months.
在这片黑色大♥陆♥中♥央♥
In the heart of the black continent,
不管是凶猛的野兽还是食人族
neither beasts nor cannibals
都无法吓退这位无畏的探险者
seem to frighten the intrepid explorer.
他带着一队人马 扛着珠饰 纺织品
He’s followed by a contingent of men carrying beads, fabrics
和各种现代化科学探险工具
and modern scientific expedition tools.
队伍中有尊敬的葡萄牙国王陛下
The group includes in its ranks His Majesty the King of Portugal,
或者如圣旨所言 他的旨意一路随行
or at least his will, as expressed in a royal decree,
还有高高在上的上帝 万物尊他为造物主
and He who is above, whom all creatures call Creator,
圣经承载着他的旨意
and whose voice lives in the Bible.
即使他的双腿受无上的意志驱使向前
But even if his legs move forward, urged on by a superior will,
不论是君主还是神权
sovereign or divine,
他的心 这身体中最不羁的部位
the heart, the most insolent muscle in all anatomy,
却诉说着此次远行的其他缘由
dictates other reasons for the march.
多么可怜又悲惨的人啊
Poor, miserable man!
这器官反复无常 国王神祇都受它掌控
This whimsical organ rules over both King and the Eternal.
在此 我们揭示这个旅程的真正目的
So we hereby reveal the true rule of this expedition:
漫步到天涯海角
to roam the ends of the world,
远离那片埋葬他一生挚爱的土地
walking away from the land where he saw his beloved wife perish,
好像这样就可以阻止死亡
as if he could ever stop death.
他的无畏 也不过是出于绝望
Intrepid he is, but only out of desperation.
他沈默寡言 郁郁寡欢
Taciturn and melancholic,
拖着悲伤的身影孤独地游荡在荒原之上
the sad figure wanders desolately over the inhospitable plains.
一种未知的神秘力量
And by mysteries unknown,
从远方带来了他朝思夜想的人
he is visited from afar by the one whom his heart begs for,
这细节真该死
wearing, oh morbid detail,
她还穿着那伴她入土的长裙
the dress that hugged her when she returned to dust.
只要你想 你尽可以远远地躲开
You may run as far as you can, for as long as you like,

一只鳄鱼潜伏在浑浊的水中等待时机
A crocodile awaits its moment, submerged in murky waters.
无畏的探险者十分清楚
The intrepid explorer is well aware
这河流中 便是他无法逃脱的命运
he will meet his destiny in this river.
他的随从见证了这恐怖的一刻
His men witness the horror.
探险者向他的生命辞别
The explorer bids farewell to life.
夜幕降临在大草原上
Night falls in the savannah,
无数个夜晚也将如期而至
as will a thousand and one nights more.

despite how absurd this may sound to men of reason,

In the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom…
互相撕咬着
All biting each other.
我甚至还劝它们出去 友好相处
I even told them to get out and be friends.
但它们就只知道撕咬
But all they wanted to do was bite.
太可怕了
What a nightmare!
我只能给女儿打电♥话♥ 让她给我找律师
I had to phone my daughter to ask her to get me a lawyer.
突然我就到了另一个地方
And then I was somewhere else!
我到了一个朋友的房♥子里
At the house of a friend
她十多年前就死了 可怜的家伙
who died over ten years ago, poor thing.
我们就着南瓜酱吃烤面包 很美味
We were eating toast with pumpkin jam. Delicious.
其中一只猴子会说话
And one monkey could speak,
但这猴子又变成了我朋友的丈夫
but sometimes the monkey was her husband.
现在回想起来
Thinking back,
她丈夫确实毛发丛生
her husband was a really hairy man.
他卷起袖子 就露出很多毛
When he pulled his sleeves up, you could see lots of hair.
他一会儿是只猴子 一会儿变成她丈夫
Sometimes he was a monkey, sometimes he was the husband.
我只能给女儿打电♥话♥ 以防她来的时候
I had to phone my daughter in case she came to visit
只能看见好多撕咬的猴子
and saw only the biting monkeys,
进而以为那些猴子把我吃了
to stop her from thinking they had eaten me.
不过我女儿也几乎不来看我
Then again… my daughter hardly ever visits me anyway.
她抽不开身 可怜的家伙
She can’t, poor thing.
特别是 她还在加拿大
Especially now she’s in Canada.
不过你知道做梦是怎么回事
But you know what dreams are like.
咱们可没法掌控
We can’t command them.
我朋友的丈夫 或者说是猴子
So the husband or the monkey said
说他在赌场的机子上赚了一大笔钱
he had made a fortune on the machines at the casino,
是老的那个赌场 新的太差劲了
in the old casino, since the new one is rubbish.
他妻子说 “赌场得意 情场失意”
The wife replied, “Lucky at gambling, unlucky in love.”
我觉得她这么说
And I thought she said that
一定是因为她和别人好上了
because she was cheating on him.
她已经死了
She was dead,
所以她一定和死人好上了
so she was cheating on him with the dead.
说不定还是什么国外的名流呢
Even with some foreign celebrities.
她丈夫听到这个特别伤心
The husband heard this and was very sad.
我为他感到难过 所以陪他坐火车
I took the train with him because I felt sorry for him.
我告诉他 还有很多专一又诚实的女人
I told him there were other dedicated and honest women.
就像圣母玛利亚那样
Like Our Lady.
当检票员朝我们走来时
When the ticket inspector came,
这位丈夫假装成一只猴子
the husband pretended to be a monkey
挂在人们握的扶手上面
and hung from the things that people hold on to.
我没有票 检票员就带我去补票
I had no ticket, so the inspector took me to get one,
但是我发现售票机就是赌场的投♥注♥机
but the ticket machine was a casino betting machine.
我站在机子面前 充满渴望
I felt anxious in front of it.
检票员说一种颜色
The collector would say a colour,
我就押相反的颜色 我总是赢
I would bet the opposite and always win.
