我不知道发生了什么 薇
i don’t know about what happened, vi,
但你一旦拿起笔 开始写作
because once you start writing,
你笔下的所有人物、情节就都是虚构的
it all becomes fiction.
当然了
still…
相比你的上个短篇故事来说 这次确实有进步
it certainly is an improvement over your last story.
现在你的短篇至少有了
there is now at least
开端 中段
a beginning, a middle,
和结尾
and an end.
女人：托比 我刚知道你考上表演 以后要当电影明星了呀
woman: “toby, i just know you’re going to become a movie star.
苟富贵 勿相忘
please don’t forget me when you make it to the top.
我会一直爱你的 帕姆
i will always love you. pam.”

i’m fine, how are you?

i kind of came to terms with myself.

i realized i had done what i had to do,

and it was time to move on.

i went to law school,if you can believe that.

像个笑话 被生活毒打
all kind of a joke and a rip-off, the whole thing,
所以我辍学了 – 太可惜了
so i dropped out. – that’s too bad.
但之后我就开始写作了
well, but then it got me writing,
所以这算是好事
so that was a good thing.

i worked over at a homeless shelter for a while,

for this one project on teenagers.

on teenage life in suburbia.
有点像是对精神世界的探索
it’s kind of an exploration of the psyche,
和对青少年传说的探索
of its mythology.
我写了信给德里达问他愿不愿意当旁白
i wrote to derrida to see if he’d like to do the narration,
但一切都还在组建阶段
but everything’s still kind of in development at this point.

我现在在鞋店工作
i work in a shoe store right now.
但这很正常 我并不感到羞耻
but it’s cool, i’m not ashamed.
我现在有更强的自我意识了
i have a much stronger sense of self now.
