不知道有没有小伙伴和小站（微信公众号：田间小站）一样，对这个单词的深刻印象是从几年前的网络用语“北京瘫”的英译之一 Beijing Slouch 开始的，“北京瘫”中的最为典型的莫过于“葛优躺”了。

Slouch 一词可能源自古北欧语 slokr （懒惰的家伙），与 slack （不紧的、松弛的）相关，16世纪初进入英语后也是作名词表示“懒人”，这个概念发展现在则是用在口语里指“懒散的人、无能的人”或“笨手笨脚的人、做事不快的”，比如可以反过来用习语 be no slouch 表示“擅长”某类活动或“愿意卖力工作、手脚勤快麻利”：
