一路上
And along the way,
路灯的灯柱上都是演唱会的海报
on all the lampposts, were placards advertising the concert.

And he saw his face on every lamppost as it sped by

So we came and we got to meet all the people.

And everybody was just so happy. Everybody was thrilled.

Stephen phoned me.
他说”你不会相信的…”
He said, “You will never believe this…

“but Rodriguez is coming to South Africa
“我们可以做他的暖场乐队”
“and we can be the opening band.
“你愿意吗”我说”当然了”
“Do you wanna do it?” I said, “Of course we wanna do it.”
“怎么回事 他人在哪儿呢””他们找到他了”
“Why? Where is he?” “Now they found him.
“他们找到他了 他还活着 马上要来南非巡演了”
“They found him, he’s alive, he’s gonna come and tour in South Africa.”
“我们要当他的暖场乐队了”我真是没法相信
“Are we gonna be the opening band?” So I couldn’t really believe this.
然后我才了解到 他住在底特律 还有其他的一切
And then I got all the information: he’s living in Detroit and everything.
一阵子过后他又说
And then a little while later he said,
“他似乎没有自己的乐队”
“Look, it turns out he hasn’t got a band.

“Could we be the support band?” I mean his band.

I remember, even then, we were sort of,

of all the amenities and stuff.

He didn’t sleep in the big double king size bed.
我发现他蜷缩在椅子上睡,
He kinda curled up on the love seat and I found him there and…
他只是觉得没有必要让别人多整理一张床
Yeah, he just didn’t think somebody should have to make another bed
因为他会把它弄乱…
because he messed it up or…
有一次

where I stayed in the house we were at
大家都不在
and everyone else had gone out.

The phone rang and it kept ringing,

so I decided to answer it.

and set up time for an interview.

And then, before she hung up, after I told her to call back later

in the studio here in Cape Town
那天他到了机场 来到录音棚
on the day that he came from the airport, when he arrived,
走进来的时候我们正好到一首歌♥的中间
and we were actually in the middle of a song when he walked in
他就接过话筒 把歌♥唱完了
and just took over the microphone and finished the song.

We switched off the CD player

and it was, like, completely seamless.

I mean, “OK, this is the guy.”

initially got on a plane,

But it turned out really, really different than that.
男女老少
And there’s old people and young people
都来看演唱会了
and they’re coming to see the show.
然后爸爸就在舞台上…他上台之前
And there’s my step-dad on the stage… Before he went on stage,

’cause I wanted to take a picture of the audience,
因为真的没人会相信的
since nobody’s gonna believe this.

You must remember, this guy,

it’s like seeing someone like Elvis come back from the dead.

People in the audience still don’t believe it.
