When I was in the Army they used to mispronounce Segerman as Sugar Man.

He’d look like maybe he’d go from shelter to shelter or something.
七十年代的底特律的确生活艰难
Detroit in the ’70s was a hard place.
现在其实还是这样
Well, it’s still a hard place.
很多衰败的 毁掉的房♥子 城里有很多穷♥人♥
Lot of decay, lots of ruined houses. Real poverty exists in this city.
而那些街道 就是罗德里格兹成长起来的地方
And those streets were Rodriguez’s natural habitat.
每次我们跟他见面 聊聊工作进度
Any time we met him to talk about what we were doing,
他总是在他住处附近的街角 约我们见面
he would always meet us on a corner somewhere in his neighbourhood.
大多数时候他都不愿来我家
Most of the time he wasn’t coming to my house.
他会说”跟我在这条街和那条街的交界口见面吧”
He’d say, “Meet me on the corner of this street and that street,”
我们就会过去
and we would be there.
麦克和我把车停好出来
Uh, Mike and I would get out of our cars and park our cars,
站在街角
so we’d be standing on the corner,

and then we’d look round and he’d be there all of a sudden.

He’d just show up.

We thought he was like the inner city poet.

And it was definitely a very gritty look

Big names, big money behind it. Circumstances were right.

Why didn’t it make it? That’s the big question that today still haunts me.

Did he get enough promotion? Did he do enough performances?
还是歌♥太政♥治♥化了
Was he too political?

Was there this or was there that?
封面是不是不能用橙色该用绿色
Should it have been green instead of orange?
是不是应该用小提琴而不是双簧管
Should it have been a violin instead of an oboe?
这样子的问题还可以一直问下去
On and on you can go.
但最终 如果你现在去听他的歌♥ 你会说
But the end of the day is, if you listen to the stuff now, you’d say,
