它是世界上最难的两英里赛马比赛
每个赛马骑师都梦想着能够参加
米歇尔·佩恩6个月大时
Michelle Payne was just six months old
她的母亲玛丽不幸在车祸中丧生
when her mother Mary died in a car accident,
只留她父亲裴迪一人照顾十个孩子
leaving her father, Paddy, a single dad to ten children
其中最大的也只有16岁 最小的还是婴儿
ranging in age from 16 to a tiny baby.

She was being breastfed when her mother was killed,

and, uh, that was a worry.

But she came through it good, took the bottle straightaway.

I think all the kids helped out and it wasn’t too bad.

Bernadette used to look after me.

Stevie and I were the little kids,
所以他们一般不跟我俩玩
so we’d always get left out most of the time,
但我们自己也玩的很开心
but we still had a lot of fun.

Without our mum in our lives,

it was just crazy, hectic as anything.

Everybody had to work at the stables.

It was just like everybody had their set chores

and we all had to work. That was just the way it was.
一家十个孩子中有八个成为了骑师
Eight of Paddy’s ten children became jockeys.
