Crossing the brook, my horse’s hoofs disturb clouds bright[1];
Drunk, my sleeves flap with falling petals in breeze light.
I wonder how the lad knows my coming and wait;
The magpie’s song arrives before me to his gate[2].

“Mountainside Cottage” is a seven-line poem written by Liu Yin, a poet of the Yuan Dynasty. The first two lines of the poem describe the rush, reflecting the beautiful scenery of the mountains and the poet’s dashing demeanor; the second two lines express the poet’s mental activity, rendering the joyful atmosphere when he arrives at the “mountain home”.
