English #1 – Drowning Sorrow
Walking into this hall of gratification,
carrying all your hopes and dream;
individual faces wearing individual masks,
not one person remembers how you look.In a corner after three rounds of drinks,
you’re stubbornly singing anguished songs.
Listening to it being drowned out in the hustle and bustle,
You pick up your glass and say to yourself:A toast to the rising sun; A toast to the moonlight.
For awakening my longings and warming the frozen window.
So that I can soar against the winds without looking back,
Without the fear of the storm in my heart or the frost under my eyes.A toast to my hometown; A toast to the hinterlands.
For guarding my kindness and for urging me to grow,
so the roads from North to South no longer seem as long or as slow.
And the soul is no longer without a resting place.Restless and fidgeting privileged guests,
Presumptuous and conceited they put on an act.
Pretending, dancing, exhausted.
And the soul is no longer without a resting place.A toast to tomorrow; A toast to the past.
For bearing my body and the shoulders that have become heavy.
Even though I’ve never believed that *greatness lasts forever,
Life is painful and short, so why the need to stay stuck in the past?A toast to freedom; A toast to death.
For pardoning my ordinariness and erasing my turmoil.
Okay, it’s always a mess to leave as dawn breaks.
The sober are always the most absurd.
The sober are always the most absurd.

*Greatness lasts forever – the literal meaning of the Chinese lyric is “as high as the mountains, as long as the rivers”. It is a Chinese idiom which means that a person’s good conduct/character will be lasting in its influence.
English #2 – Drink Sorrow Down
When you walk into the bustling nightclub,
Carrying all your expectations,
Seeing various makeups on various faces,
Nobody even cared for your appearance.A few drinks over you stay in the corner,
Repeating the songs filled with sorrow,
Again they’re overwhelmed by the hubbub,
You raise the glass and drink toasts alone.“One to the rising sun, one to the shining moon.
For awakening my yearnings, softening my efforts
Hence I can fly upwind dauntlessly,
Albeit the rain in my heart, the frost in my eyes. One to my homeland, one to the Utopia,
For protecting my virtues, urging my growths,
Therewith the journey is no more tough and endless,
My soul is no more lost. ”Show Time of the ‘honored’ guests,
Swaggering, oh kinda hilarious,
Posing, dancing, exhausted,
You raise the glass and drink toasts alone.“One to the rising sun, one to the shining moon.
For awakening my yearnings, softening my efforts
Hence I can fly upwind dauntlessly,
Albeit the rain in my heart, the frost in my eyes. One to my homeland, one to the Utopia,
For protecting my virtues, urging my growths,
Therewith the journey is no more tough and endless,
My soul is no more lost. ”One to the future, one to the past,
For nourishing my body, strengthening my shoulders.
Though I never have faith in Eternity,
Life is too short for obsession with regrets. One to liberty, one to mortality,
For forgiving my mediocrity, relieving my confusions.Another dawn breaks, leaving nothing but messes.
The sober is but the most ridiculous.Another dawn breaks, leaving nothing but messes.
The sober is but the most ridiculous.
