And then he gave a great reception to present his son to the people.

Suddenly, in the midst of the ceremony,

and to everyone’s surprise,

an unexpected guest arrived.
他就是名叫阿私陀的智者 一位有名望的预言家
He was the revered hermit and astrologer Asita,
远离尘世隐居多年
whom nobody had seen for years.
阿私陀抱过王子 看了看
As Asita looked at her son,
王后见阿私陀惊喜地流下了热泪
Queen Maya saw tears come to his eyes.
夫人 不必惊慌
Do not be alarmed, O Queen.
我为自己而悲哀
Mine are only the tears of an old man…
我感慨自己已经老了
who knows that he will not live long enough…
听不到王子的教诲了
to learn from the teachings of your son.
他会成为一位伟大的国王吗？
Will he be a great king?
他可以成为众望所归的转轮圣王
He’ll be the master of the world.

but the gods often betray the wishes of mortal men.

摩耶夫人突然生病了
Queen Maya was filled with a strange foreboding,
她知道 她已经无法亲眼看到王子…

直到有一天…
But then, one day,
悉达多仿佛听到有女子 正在弹奏着神秘的乐曲
Siddhartha heard a mysterious song of haunting beauty.
一开始 他弄不清楚 音乐从何处传来
At first he couldn’t understand where it was coming from.

The song was in a language he had never heard before.
