We got a call from Kevin saying
我们要参加一个叫做”游戏盛宴”的活动
We’re going to do this thing called: ‘The Game Feast’,
是Xbox的一个促销活动
an Xbox promotion.
而且他说 如果你们想参加
And he said: If you want to get in,
你们就必须在一个月内做完游戏
you have to have the game done in a month.
当时就吓我们一跳
We’re like: ‘whoa’,
因为当时我们离完成还差得远呢
because we weren’t anywhere close to being ready at all.
他就问 你们能做完吗
He’s like: ‘Do you think it’s possible?’
然后汤米说 那我们试试看
And Tommy said: ‘Yeah well, we shoot for it.’
做得完就上 做不完就算了
‘And if we miss it, we miss it. And if not, whatever.’
然后他就说 如果错过这次
And he’s like: ‘Well, if you miss it,’
那就只能等到明年2月了
‘we can’t launch until February.’
汤米那边没钱了
Tommy doesn’t have any money.
我们这边也快周转不开了
We’re running out of money.
现在就是 我们必须得赶在那之前做完
It’s just like: We have to do this now.
做不完不行
We have to do this.
至少有五次
There were at least five times,
整整五次 我完全崩溃了
a good five time where I totally broke down.
我真的想撒手不做了
And I just didn’t want to do it anymore.
但不管怎样我又躲不掉
I couldn’t escape in any way.
所以我就躺进浴缸里 泡个澡
So I would just go into the bathtub, and we have a bathtub shower,
就是放一缸热水
And I’d just turn on the hot water.
然后就这么躺着 直到水变凉
And I’d lay down on my back, and wait until the water went cold.

That was all I had.

That was all I had to try to relax myself,
暂时忘掉这些事
and not worry about anything.

I was actually really worried that either Tommy or I would die
忙着忙着就死了
in the process of making this.

as long as he could finish this game,

更多的是 看 他没皮肤
It was more: ‘Hey, he doesn’t have skin.’
他是个没皮肤的男孩 所以叫他肉肉哥
He’s a boy without skin. That’s why they call him Meat Boy.
所以他是完全暴露在外面的
So he’s exposed to the elements.
也许他一直浑身剧痛
Maybe he’s always in pain,
只是一直忍♥着不说就是了
but he just deals with it.
但他必须时刻小心谨慎
But he has to be very careful with everything,
因为随便什么都能杀了他
because anything can kill him.
即便最微小的玩意儿 比如说盐之类的
The smallest little thing – like salt, or whatever,
也能把他毁了
could totally destroy him.
我希望他和女友之间不只是互相吸引
I wanted to have his girlfriend be more than a love interest.
我想传达的想法是 他需要她
And I wanted to play up the idea that he needs her,
就是她能使他完整的关系
like that she’s what completes him,
不只在情感上 外在上也是如此
not just emotionally, but physically as well.
所以才叫她绷带妹
And that’s why she’s ‘Bandage Girl’.
她就像是肉肉哥的保护层
She’s kind of the outer shell over Meat Boy,
时刻保护着他
that protects him.
所以他才需要她
And that’s why he needs her,
才必须把她救回来
he needs her back.
不只是因为他爱她 还因为
Not only because he loves her, but because
