因为它是很单纯的动画制♥作♥
because it is pure animation,

just to have fun and do slapstick
没有被对话束缚
and not be tied down by dialogue.
但是在三部电影以后 它的确遇到了挑战 因为
But after three movies, it does get challenging because…
“那么 好吧 我们好像没有灵感了”
“So, okay, what have we not done with this guy?”
在鼠奎特的世界中最重要的事情就是它的橡果
The most important thing in Scrat’s universe is his acorn.
它只关心它的橡果
That’s all he cares about.
然后作者想出了一个
And writers came up with something brilliant
可能可以和他竞争的
by coming up with the one thing that
很绝妙的人物
could possibly compete with that,
那就是鼠奎娣
and that’s Scratte.
鼠奎娣是一个完美的配角
Scratte is the perfect
因为她很漂亮 很机灵
foil because she’s beautiful, she’s cunning,
在她身上的优点在鼠奎特身上绝对找不到
she’s everything that he isn’t.
当我在设计鼠奎娣的时候
When I was designing Scratte,
我知道她得跟鼠奎特截然相反才行
I knew she had to be the opposite of Scrat.
所以她必须得很漂亮
So she had to be beautiful.
她还得很聪明 总之得跟鼠奎特完全不同
She had to be smart. All the things that he’s not.
鼠奎特就是个神经兮兮焦虑不安的角色
Scrat is this nervous, twitchy character,
不是非常的整洁讲究
not particularly well-groomed.
但是鼠奎娣就很优雅很淡定
She’s elegant and smooth.
我们想尽可能把她塑造到最美
We just wanted her to look as beautiful as she could be,
因为鼠奎特必须一看到她
because scrat has to look at her
立马坠入爱河
and just fall in love immediately.
所以我们给她设计了很长的睫毛 还带了点蓝色
So, we gave her long eyelashes with a little bit of blue,
我们把她打扮得很女性化很有趣
so we just make her really feminine and funny.
鼠奎娣行动上的确要更加本能一些
Scratte did start out being a lot more instinctual,
然后我们开始琢磨她的表情
and then we started seeing her look,
让她和鼠奎特作对的确效果要好很多
playing against scrat actually worked a lot better.

And that’s where it started to mold her personality.

Her movement is really different

because she’s very straight with her poses.

make sure she’s looking as good as possible,

and that’s where the comedy is, the contrast between the two.

And we kind of thought, what if both Scrat and scratte
有一个共同的目标 坚果 那会擦出什么火花呢
have the same goal, the nut.
就比如说 我们可以创作出这个超级搞笑的小特务
Like, we can create this great fun little
和它的同类小特务对阵
kind of spy vs spy kind of thing
他们一直要想办法比另一个更机智才能拿到坚果
that they keep trying to outsmart each other to catch the nut.
然后 通过这一系列的追抢 他们发现了爱的种子
And then, therefore by doing that, they find love.
最后核心概念就出来了 那就是三角恋
Then, the concept came up, the love triangle,
鼠奎特 坚果 和妹子 鼠奎娣
Scrat, nut and girl, Scratte.
鼠奎特系列大体上是没有写脚本的
The Scrat sequences in general are not scripted.
他们都是在故事中和导演直接创作的
They are all invented in story and with the director.
卡洛斯有关于这个鼠奎特系列的想法 让它和鼠奎娣相遇
Carlos definitely had the idea of the Scrat arc, meeting the girl
以及基本的故事走向
and a basic idea of what would happen.
但是至于每一个独♥立♥的镜头 他们就交给我们做了
But as far as every individual sequence, they leave it to us.
我们做的第一件事就是通过初稿
The first thing we do is a first rough pass.
一幅看起来很粗糙 脏兮兮的 很糟糕的样子的手稿
Rough, dirty awful looking drawings,
然后把它搬到工作室里讲解
and then you pitch them in front of the whole room.
你得把它演出来 配上音
You act it out. You do voices.
你真的得把整个屋子的人逗笑
You’re really trying to get the room to laugh.
然后像石头一样掉下来
And then falls like a rock.
鼠奎特探戈系列 那是布置给我的任务
The Scrat tango sequence, that was my assignment.
我想 恩 好吧
And I thought, “Well, okay.

They need to be fighting over the nut.

“It’s gotta be fun and funny and…”

So, then, the next part was me just trying

to sketch out the choreography,

seeing how it would work with their tails,
把小松鼠放到真人舞蹈动作中
and bringing squirrelness into a human dance.
几个星期都在设计他们可以擦出的笑点
Just weeks of just doing gags.
然后卡洛斯基本就选出他最喜欢的动作
And then Carlos basically just picks his favorite,
于是这个探戈就诞生了
and the tango was born.
这个探戈系列花了三十三天 大概五周
The tango sequence took 33 days, about five weeks,
因为里面涉及了很多动作 例如谁要拿着那个坚果呀
because there was a lot of play between who is holding the nut,
坚果要被弄到哪里去之类的问题 所以在润色上花了很多时间
where it’s going, so it takes a great deal of Polish time.

We looked up on YouTube how to dance tango,
我觉得最炫酷的一个回应就是
and I think one of the coolest responses
当剧情梗概系列图的设计师注意到
was when the storyboard artists noticed
在我做的那些镜头里面 做了一个倒♥退♥八字步
I did a backwards ocho in one of the shots I did.
所以其实 我在里面是加了很详致的舞蹈动作的
So, actually, I have very specific tango moves in this.
所以这些都是我们共同合作的努力
So, it’s all a collaborative effort
虽然说很折腾人
that made that sequence extremely painful
但是同时也很有成就感
but extremely rewarding at the same time.
它是我在这部电影中最喜欢的一个系列
It’s one of my favorite sequences in the movie.
它给我们展现了爱可以有多么有趣同时又很痛苦
It just shows how fun and painful love can be.
最初设计鼠奎特时要解决的一个问题就是想
One thing about the original scrat was thinking,
“鼠奎特的声音应该是什么样的”
“What’s gonna be the voice for Scrat?”
于是我们就把各种声音放进去试听
So, we just put temporary voices just to see.
我们需要给它加上声音
We needed some sounds.
所以我就把我心中的鼠奎特的声音搬出来了
So, I connected with my inner Scrat,
然后那些配音自然而然就出来了
and the noises just came voluntarily.
很多时候 是鼠奎特要用力气做什么发出的声音
Mostly, it’s effort sounds.
它被什么东西给震惊到了 就是这种
Scrat gets surprised by something, it’s kind of…
它被人从头上踩过啊
He’s getting bopped on the head,
大概是差不多的声音 只不过
it’s kind of the same sound, only just…
就像这样
Things like that.
这个声音太适合它了
It matched so perfectly.
我们说 哪还需要上别处找配音 我们这就有一个天才可以做到
We said, “Why look elsewhere? We got the talent right here.”
于是克里斯就成了鼠奎特标志性的声音 配得很完美
And Chris became the signature voice of Scrat and was wonderful.
然后我们开始给鼠奎娣甜心找声音
And then when we defined the Scrat girl,
我决定 那就再看看动画师内心的声音吧
I decided, “Let’s look inside again.
我们还按那个方式试一下
“Let’s go through the same process.”
之后凯伦·狄雪给我们做了好多配音的工作
And Karen Disher, she’d been doing a lot of voice temps for us.
我自从开始做以后就一直发出松鼠的声音
I’ve been doing scratch voices since I started out.
所以我觉得 他们一开始需要找
So, I think when they needed a temp voice
鼠奎娣的配音演员的时候
for Scratte at the beginning of production,

they were like, “We’ll just bring Karen in,”

which is, for me, a lot of fun,

You know, it’s a funny and weird thing.
至于要配那些叫声 那还是挺棘手的 因为鼠奎特的配音真的很棒
In terms of vocalizing, it’s tricky because Scrat’s so great.
克里斯给它配了一个很赞的声音
Chris wedge does such an amazing voice.
那我要怎么在保证它们都是同一物种的同时
So, how do I keep this animal in the same family,
又体现出它们的差异呢
but different at the same time?
所以我就想说 应该要融一点性感的东西进去
So, for me, that was thinking of little sexy things like,
她可以发出点猫咪叫声 一点挑逗的声音
little purrs she could do, little come-hither squeaks,
但是这些都很难做
which is difficult to do.
要用很多方式来体现这个有毛茸茸爪子的小东西
There’s big, furry paws to fill in a lot of ways.
很聪明 我都不懂她怎么想到这些声音的
Pretty clever. I don’t know where she gets it.
我真不懂
I just don’t.
我本来没想到我的声音会出现在这部电影中的
I was not expecting to end up being the voice in a movie at all.
但是后来大概有一年半的样子
And then John came to me
约翰来找我说
about a year and a half ago now and said,
你猜怎么着 你要成为鼠奎娣啦
“Guess what? You’re gonna be Scratte.”
然后我的反应就是 没搞错吧
And I was just, like, “Shut up.”
反正我简直不敢相信 所以
Like, I couldn’t even believe it, so…
还是非常刺♥激♥的
It was really exciting.

Mmm!
对于结局 大家都在猜测
The final ending where you kind of, you keep the question,
它会和鼠奎娣在一起吗 或者它最后会得到那个坚果
“Is he gonna be with the girl? Or is he gonna get the nut?
还是说它最后一无所获
“Or he’s gonna get nothing?”
