纳萨克兰活着的时候世上并没有逆戟鲸
Natsaclane was a Haida who lived before there were orca whales.
与其他勇士一起捕鱼的时候 年轻的纳萨克兰迷了路
Hunting fish with other warriors, young Natsaclane lost his way.
在寻找回家的路的时候 他遭遇了极强烈的暴风雨
While he was searching, a fierce storm began.
纳萨克兰根本找不到一个地方躲雨
Natsaclane couldn’t find shelter anywhere.
水獭来把他带到了水底下 在那儿他安全了
The otters came and took him underwater, where he’d be safe.
暴风雨过去之后 纳萨克兰又开始了寻找的旅程
After the storm, Natsaclane again searched for the braves.
但是他所找到的就是一个大木头
But all he found was a huge log.
他在木头上雕了一个猛兽 然后就想把它弄到海里
He carved a beast on the log and tried carrying it to the ocean.
他找到了有水的地方 但不是海
He found some water, but not the ocean.
这个雕有猛兽的木头沉进湖里去 消失了
The great carving sank in this pool and disappeared.
纳萨克兰坐下了 看着等着
Natsaclane sat and watched and waited
说着他从没有听过得祈祷
and said a prayer he’d never heard before.
他祈祷着 太不可思议了
He kept saying this prayer. It was so weird.
他从前从来都没有听到过
He’d never heard it before.
听起来确实很疯狂 水开始往外冲
It really got crazy, because the water started flying out
然后水开始躁动了
and then this commotion started happening.
那个雕有猛兽的木头从水里出来了
And out of the water came the carving.
而且 那不再是木头了 而是像威利一样的鲸鱼
And it wasn’t a carving. It was a whale like Willy.
他像鸟一样飞越了海洋
He flew down to the ocean, like a bird
纳萨克兰跟着他到了海边
and Natsaclane went after him, to the beach
他这一路回到家一直是骑在他的背上
he rode him all the way home on his back.
