But when night comes,
它们立刻变成残忍♥的杀手
they’re transformed into hunters working in packs.
在黑暗中 它们的视力并不好
In the gloom, the shark’s eyesight is poor.
它们能闻到远处的潜在猎物
But they can smell potential prey from far off.
它还有一个杀手锏
And they have another advantage.
一种第六感 能探测到鱼儿们
A sixth sense, that can pick up the tiny electrical signals
急促的心跳发出的电波
from the heartbeat of a frightened fish.
然后直扑过去
And track it down.
即使躲在最暗处也在劫难逃
Even the deepest shadow, is no hiding place.

Darkness is not just a time for nightmares.

Some creatures use their lights for love.

For this male click beetle,

his glowing spots are designed to impress and attract a mate.
当它看见这只真菌发出的光，以为找到了一位…
And seeing the glow from this fungus, he thinks he’s found one…
隐藏的梦中情人
Hidden inside.
但它不知道真菌跟它耍了一个小把戏
But the fungus is playing a trick on him.
光亮其实就是来自真菌本身
The glow comes from the fungus itself.
不明就里的磕头虫找来找去，还是不见爱人的影子
Puzzled, he searches everywhere.
倒是浑身上下沾满了真菌的孢子
And gets covered in fungal spores.
这些孢子将被带到它寻爱路上的每一个角落
He’ll spread them wherever he goes next.
自己没有找到伴侣，却稀里糊涂地替真菌传宗接代了
Not reproducing himself, but helping reproduce the fungus instead.

A light in the dark, can also be a deadly trap.

In New Zealand, glow-worms cling to the roof of a cave.

Tiny flies are drawn to the beautiful lights.

Only to become glued to the dangling strands and trapped.
