(Běijīng yī yè) [One night in Beijing]
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
English #1 – One night in Beijing
Don’t want to ask you where you really are
Don’t want to think about whether you can come back
Thinking about your heart, thinking about your face
I want to hold it on my chest and not let it go if I canONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
I left a lot of love
Whether you love or not
It is the dust* of history
ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING
I left a lot of love
I dare not ask the way at midnight
Afraid to walk to the deepest part of the hundred flowersPeople say that deep in the land of a hundred flowers

The old man with a peaceful face,
still waiting for the lover who will eventually return from the expeditionONE NIGHT IN BEIJING

Author’s comments:
*In fact, “dust” refers to the “historical record”
**The word “狼族” in Chinese originally refers to the nomadic people of the north, but in this case it refers to warriors on the march

This is a song based on the legendary story of Di’anmen, the northern gate of the old imperial city of Beijing: According to legend, a woman who lived in Di’anmen had her husband forcibly conscripted by the government to go to a distant land to fight a war with the barbarians. After her husband died, he returned to the Di’anmen as a ghost and wanted to reunite with his wife, but the ghost of her husband could not enter the city, so he wandered outside the Di’anmen all day and night, while the woman could only wait for her husband’s return at home for the rest of her life, holding the new shoes she made for him with a peaceful smile, and finally died at home, unable to wait for his return.
The song features a good combination of a pop song and a traditional Chinese opera, Peking Opera, in which the woman uses the singing voice of Peking Opera, making the song both historical and fashionable.
