广岛（2005）

进入广岛上空
entering the sky above Hiroshima.
我立刻认出那是美国的飞机
l instantly recognised it as an American plane,
因为那时候的日本战机
as no Japanese aircraft
无法飞到那个高度
could fly at that altitude at the time.
因为我只见到一架战机
lt was just one plane,
我猜测它只是像往常一样飞过
so l assumed that it was passing by,as usual.
我在数数
l was counting.
我在擦桌子，就在这时原♥子♥弹♥来了
l was wiping the desktop: that was when the bomb was dropped.
投弹完成
Bomb away!
原♥子♥弹♥离开机舱后，过了四十五秒爆♥炸♥
lt took about 45 seconds from the time the bomb left the airplane,until it exploded.
我肯定机上所有人都在对表
And l think there wasn’t a man in the airplane that wasn’t either timing it with his watch,
数数或做诸如此类的事
or counting,or doing something.
我当时肯定那个炸♥弹♥是哑弹
l was sure the bomb was a dud.
我肯定这次行动失败了
l was sure it wasn’t going to work.
大概经过四十三秒
After falling for 43 seconds,
时间和气压触发启动装置
the time and barometric triggers started the firing mechanism.
一枚铀子弹掉进炮筒
A uranium bullet,fired down the barrel,into a uranium target.
之后，引发了一连串核反应
Together they started a nuclear chain reaction.
固体物质分离开来，释放出巨大的能量
Solid matter began to come apart,releasing untold quantities of energy.
窗外一片白光
There was a white light in the window.
那是一道强光，比镁条燃烧还亮
A flash,white like magnesium.
原♥子♥弹♥分几阶段进行破坏
The bomb delivered its destruction in stages.
三百米直径的巨型火球产生强光
The flash came from a giant fireball 300 metres wide.
我很震惊，那道光非常可怕
l was astonished.lt was a startling light.
就算你背向它
Even if you had your back turned to it,
你都会感到震动的感觉
you felt the shock go through,

right to the centre of your brain.

At the same time,any area of skin that was exposed became very hot.

Heat.Heat.Such burning heat.

Temperatures directly below the fireball were 4,000 degree Celsius.
热力经过的地方就只剩下倒影
The heat rays left shadows.
梯子、栏杆，甚至人
Ladders,railings,even people,
在石头或者金属上留些轮廓的印子
left their outlines on stone and metal.
在户外的人，不是被蒸发
Anyone in the open air was either vaporised,
就是在一瞬间，被烧成灰烬
or turned to carbon,in an instant.
强光亦释放红外线和伽马射线
At the same time,the flash sent out powerful infrared radiation and gamma rays.
它们可以穿过墙壁，侵蚀人体细胞
These could penetrate walls,and attack the cells in human bodies.
然后我慢慢张开眼睛
Then l slowly opened my eyes,
首次看向强光的方向
and for the first time,looked in the direction of the light.
我看到一团蘑菇状的云
Just at that moment,a mushroom cloud appeared.
所有在广岛看过这情景的人
People who saw this in Hiroshima
大抵都死光了
are nearly all dead by now.
现在没有几个人
There is barely anyone left now,
可以出来告诉大家，他们的所见所闻
who can say they actually saw it happen.
只是一瞬间
A fraction of a second later
速度等同音速的冲击波出现
came a powerful shockwave,which moved at the speed of sound.
使窗户和墙壁成为碎片
lt turned everyday windows and walls into shrapnel.
爆♥炸♥那一刻，我被甩进了屋里
As soon as the blast hit,l was thrown across the room.
身体从这面墙飞到那面墙
My body was flung from wall to wall,
又从天花板撞到地面
and from the ceiling to the floor.
身体就像球一样转来转去
My body was thrown around like it was a ball.
一团黑云向我这边而来
Ajet black belt of cloud came towards me.
就在山间出现
lt came from there,over the lip of the mountain.
黑云在山间散开
The black cloud spread between the mountains,
向我身处的方向团团的飘来
and came rolling in my direction,swirling like this.
同时我的身体好像被人抱起
Just like that,my body was scooped up!
那是气浪
lt was the blast.
使我在房♥子里飞起来
lt sent me flying through the house.
那光太耀眼
The flash was very brilliant,
虽然维持的时间不长
and it only lasted a very short period of time.
只有短短几秒钟
lt was over in a few short seconds.
我们看不到人或尸体之类
We didn’t see any bodies down there,or anything of that type.
亦看不到有大厦倒塌
You didn’t see any buildings collapsing,
因为你根本分不清
you can’t really distinguish things like that.
就算分得清，我们也做不到
And even if we had been able to,we couldn’t do it,anyhow,
因为那里全被烟尘笼罩着
because there was just a,it was all covered with smoke and dust,and everything.
我不是感情脆弱的人
l’m not emotional.
我当时有个该死的念头，应该告诉你们
l would have first goddamn thought,and l’d have told you what it was.
我为成功感到释然，你们不会明白的
l did the job,but l was so relieved that it was successful,you can’t understand that.
看着地面的火焰和慢慢升起的云层
Seeing the fires on the ground,and the cloud coming up,
我感到一阵伤痛
then you get pretty distressed
我知道下面一片混乱
that there’s such havoc down there,
人们正在受苦
and people are suffering.
没有准确数据显示
There are no exact figures for the number
爆♥炸♥后即时死亡的人数
who died in the instant of the explosion,
但可以确定数以万计在屋外的人
but tens of thousands of people in the open near the fireball,
瞬间消失
vanished in a fraction of a second.
对生还者而言，苦难才刚刚开始
For the survivors,the ordeal was just beginning.
上千人受伤或严重烧伤
Thousand of people were injured and terribly burned.
很多人被困在瓦砾之下
Many were trapped in the rubble.

Just 260 metres from the bomb,

The morning sunshine was gone,

The streets were full of corpses.

over each other for as far as we could see.

They had died immediately,

l just asked myself,why?

And could not find any words.

At the communications hospital,one mile from the explosion’s hyper centre,
护士土井被炸飞到了窗外
nurse Kinuko was blown away from the window.

Like so many others,she was badly lacerated by flying glass.

l had pieces of glass sticking up from my body,all over.

Fires were breaking out in different places all over the city.

There was my daughter,Kasku.She was six.

l tried to get her out,l was desperate to,

The fires were moving closer and closer.

The flames were at our feet,and roaring up around us.

We could not stand the heat and pain any longer.
