Wandering While Young
· Grass

Gao Guanguo
Greened by the breeze of spring,
Under clouds on the wing,
Your fragrant land seems like a morning dream.
As soft as fallen blooms,
As far as water looms,
I stretch my eyes, we’re separated by a fragrant stream.
How much regret and grief on Southern shore
Remind me of the green silk skirt I adore.
Grass overgrown before her door
Near a pathway of yore,
The mist and water sadden me all the more.

注释:
The poet describes the grass and his parting grief on seeing it.

The lyricist Gao Guanguo of the Southern Song Dynasty writes about the color of grass to express his sorrow and hate for parting. In the first section, the lyricist writes about the dream world and the mesmerizing scenery of the screen, but unfortunately it is only a fantasy world, and the beauty is separated by the boundless grass. The next line is about the real world, about the feelings after waking up. It is still from the word grass, through the green robe dress, which has female characteristics, to express his longing for his lover who is far away from the fragrant dust. In the first three lines, “the cold and unoccupied door” reveals the loneliness of the courtyard, and “the miserable ancient road” reveals the sadness of looking far away. The scene is accompanied by a poignant and endless scene.
