Guan Yunshi Poem: A Quilt of Reed Catkins –

A Quilt of Reed Catkins

Guan Yunshi

The reed catkins you have gathered from dust are clean;

They’re used to fill my quilt or paddled straw cloak green.

In boundless autumn my dream wafts as west winds blow;

The moon sheds fragrance and I seem covered with snow.

My hair and bones grow old with the earth and the sky;

My fame won’t yield to ancient or modern sages high.

Don’t envy silken quilt on which the love birds sing!

In a fisherman’s song there is another spring.
