海螺和鲸

这是一只小海螺
This is a tale of a tiny snail
和庞大的蓝灰色座头鲸的故事
and a great big, grey-blue humpback whale.

This is a rock as black as soot.
这是一只渴望游遍天下的海螺
And this is a snail with an itchy foot.

The sea snail slithered all over the rock.

The tiny sea snail sighed and sniffed.

Then cried…

I’ve got it!

I’ll hitch a lift!

This is the trail of the tiny snail,
一条银色的尾迹 弯来弯去 最终写出来…
a silvery trail that looped and curled, and said…

when the tide was high and the stars were bright…

A humpback whale?
身躯庞大
Immensely long,
他对海螺唱了一首美妙的歌♥
who sang to the snail a wonderful song
歌♥里有闪着微光的冰和珊瑚洞穴
of shimmering ice and coral caves

and shooting stars and enormous waves.

These are the waves that arched and crashed,

that foamed and frolicked and sprayed and splashed

These are the caves beneath the waves…

Where stripy fish with feathery fins

and sharks with hideous toothy grins

这是天空
This is the sky.
广阔又高远
So vast and high!
有时候阳光灿烂 碧蓝如洗 温暖如春
Sometimes sunny, and blue and warm.
有时候则雷电交加
Sometimes filled with a thunderstorm.
锯齿状的闪电 闪着电光 恐怖吓人
With zigzag lightning, flashing and frightening
座头鲸尾巴上的小海螺被吓得魂不附体
the tiny snail on the tail of the whale.
她凝视着天空 海洋 大♥陆♥
And she gazed at the sky, the sea, the land,
巨浪 洞穴和金沙
the waves and the caves and the golden sand.
她不断地凝视着
She gazed and gazed,
被这一切所震撼
amazed by it all.
然后她对鲸说
And she said to the whale…
「我觉得自己好渺小啊」
I feel so small.
但后来有一天 鲸迷失了方向
But then came the day the whale lost his way.

These are the speedboats running a race,
在海面上乱窜
zigging and zooming all over the place…
刺耳的轰鸣声吵得座头鲸头昏脑涨
Upsetting the whale with their ear-splitting roar…

making him swim too close to the shore.

This is the tide.
潮水退下去了
It’s slipping away!
鲸被搁浅在了一个海湾的沙滩上
And this is the whale lying beached in a bay.
快点 从沙滩上离开 回到海里去
Quick! Off the sand! Back to sea!
小海螺哭着说
Cried the snail.
我 我在陆地上无法移♥动♥
I… I can’t move on land.
我太庞大了
I’m too big…
座头鲸呻♥吟♥着说
Moaned the whale.
海螺觉得自己太渺小 非常无助
The snail felt helpless and terribly small.
然后…
Then…
我有办法了
I’ve got it!
她哭了 然后开始爬行
She cried, and started to crawl.
我绝不能失败
I must not fail…
小海螺如是说
Said the tiny snail.
这是海湾里一所学校的铃♥声♥
This is the bell on the school in the bay,
提醒孩子们结束玩耍 该回♥教♥室了
ringing the children in from their play.
这是一位手握粉笔的老师
This is the teacher holding her chalk,
告诉全班同学们
telling the class…
坐直了
Sit straight.
别说话
Don’t talk.
这是跟煤烟一样黑的黑板
This is the board, as black as soot,
这是一只想要远行的海螺
and this is the snail with the itchy foot.
海螺 有海螺
A snail! A snail!
老师吓得面色苍白
The teacher turns pale.
看 快看
Look! Look…
他在留尾迹
He’s leaving a trail.
这是一只小海螺留下的尾迹
This is the trail of the tiny snail,
银色的尾迹说着…
a silvery trail saying…
救救鲸
Save the whale!
救救鲸
这些孩子们从学校跑了过去
These are the children running from school…
联♥系♥消防员
Calling the firemen…
挖池子
Digging a pool…
不断地洒水 帮助鲸降温
Squirting and spraying to keep the whale cool.
潮水涨到海湾了
This is the tide coming into the bay!
村民们开始大喊…
And these are the villagers shouting…
万岁
Hooray!
座头鲸和海螺安全地离开了
As the whale and the snail travel safely away.
回到了码头和石头上的族群中
Back to the dock and the flock on the rock…
他们说…
Who said…
时光飞逝啊
How time’s flown!
以及…
And…
你长大了好多啊
Haven’t you grown!
然后 鲸和海螺讲述了他们神奇的冒险故事
Then the whale and the snail told their wonderful tale…
