秋日湖上
薛莹[1]
落日五湖[2]游，
烟波处处愁。
浮沉[3]千古事，
谁与问东流[4]！
注释：
[1] 薛莹：晚唐诗人。《千家诗》注说：“苏州太湖，一名五湖，此湖上怀古之作也。言泛游于五湖之上，日落而烟生，风起而波动，则游人之愁绪兴也。况日落而此日已逝，秋深而此岁将尽，吴亡越霸五湖千古之事，已为陈迹而不可问，已付于东流之水矣，又何言哉！”这首诗用湖上的烟波浩渺（空间），衬托千古的吴越兴亡（时间），有盛衰如梦之感，充塞于天地之间了。
[2] 五湖：太湖流域一带的五个湖泊。
[3] 浮沉：指历史兴亡的变化。
[4] 东流：东去的流水。
An Autumn Day on the Lake

I boat at sunset on the lake,
Where mist-veiled waves make the heart break.

《秋日湖上》是晚唐诗人薛莹的一首五言绝句，描写了诗人秋日泛舟游览太湖的情形，流露出诗人对现实无可奈何的心情。
