So originally, these two pictures
他是想要成对送给菲利普国王的
would have been the pair that he wanted to send to King Philip.
但是这幅画留在了提香的工作室 提香并没有完成它
This painting remains in Titian’s studio, never finished by Titian,
在他死后 从他的工作室买♥♥了过来
and is bought from his studio after his death.
所以 他决定不送出这件
So he decides not to do this,
反而用 戴安娜与卡利斯托 作为一对 取而代之
and instead he produces Diana and Callisto as the pair,
所以他 – 另一幅？ – 是的 另一个
so he has… – A different one? – Yeah, it’s different,
但是它们都能够表达出戴安娜对一个凡人
but they both show Diana as taking sort of vengeance
的一种复仇的主题 或者对 嗯
on a mortal, or on a…um…

有趣的是 他们算得上是完全相反的两幅画
Interestingly, they’re kind of opposite pictures,

because…here, the pregnant nymph Callisto

is being exposed, and Diana realises she’s pregnant.

Here, it’s Diana who’s being exposed,

and who is… By Actaeon, and here there is a female victim of Diana

I’m going to read a poem called Callisto’s Song.
卡利斯托就是那个变成了熊的仙女
Callisto was the nymph who was then turned into a bear
最后被提升至天界变成了星座
who ended her life flung up into the heavens as a constellation.
她最终成了大熊星座
She became the Great Bear.
所以 这首诗是以她的身份创作而成的
So in order to write her poem in her voice,
我必须极尽想象之能猜测如果星座会说话听起来是怎样的
I had to imagine how a constellation might sound,
所以在纸上 形象化地 我将她的声音
so on the page, visually, I’ve translated her noise,
她的歌♥声转换成了星辰
her song as a star,
每句话之间都用星号♥隔开
into every word being divided by an asterisk.
这样看起来 就像是星座一样
So it looks like a constellation.
在我的脑海中 我读的时候好像就能听见她在对我低语
In my head I feel if I could read it as I hear her,
那是一种类似白噪音 星辰嘎嘎吱吱缓缓移♥动♥ 带着点噼里啪啦的声响
there would be kind of white noise, star crunching, crackling noises
贯穿于字里行间
between every word.
但是我不可能真的发出那些声音 所以你们会听到
But I can’t really do that, so probably the most you’ll hear

is a little syncopation.

Callisto’s Song.

Diana’s such a powerful figure.

but full of fire and strength.

She’s very intriguing.

Her reaction to Callisto is fascinating,

because Diana is of course the goddess of chastity.

She’s actually faced with another female
即将临盆的女性
at the kind of maximum moment of fecundity,
你能感受到戴安娜的紧张与怒火
so there’s a tension and a kind of fury in Diana
超过卡利斯托所做的任何事
that you feel goes beyond anything that Callisto’s done.
因为毕竟 在这个故事中 卡利斯托是被强♥暴♥的
Because after all, in a sense Callisto’s been raped,
而现如今 事情败露 被众人的指责的她
and now, in this revelation, she’s raped again
如同又被强♥暴♥了一次
by the pointing finger.

So, um, it’s…. I think it’s the dynamic of these different sides
神态啊 动作啊
of femaleness, of womanhood,
都被提香描绘的活灵活现
that come through in the story as Titian tells it.
可以说 其实每一首诗歌♥都是一种对其它事物的粗劣翻译
If you like, every poem is a kind of crude translation of something else.
