what I wanted…
就是成为一名绅士
was to be a gentleman.
不要多显赫，一般的绅士就好
Nothing grand. Just a rank
and file sort of gentleman.
我和我母亲早晨一起去火车站
I used to see them in the mornings,
all lined up at the railway station,

whenever I went there with my mother
in their suits and hats,

waiting on the platform
to go into London.
