To the world we all know

which may or may not be the best world possible
当春天再次来临时
once again spring time had come

But all the magical spring was not enough
掩盖曼诺农庄的困境
to conceal the misery of manor farm

Once striving and fruitfull the farm and it’s owner

Mr Jermans had fallen on evil days

Decept by problems of his own making

Mr Jermans had turned to drink
为了应付危机 他只能求助于合伙人
And for his misery he had found fine company
某一天晚上故事开始了 它比寻常来得更晚些
On the evening our story begins it was later than usual
当琼斯先生喝酒归来 准备巡视农庄
when Mr Jermans came home from drinking to make his rounds
这天晚上所有动物已经合计好
On this night all the animals had agreed
只等琼斯先生一上♥床♥
that as soon as Mr Jermans was in bed
它们就到大谷仓集♥合♥召开秘密会议
they would gather in the main barn for a secret meeting
会议由老少校号♥召
called by Old Major
这头公猪因为它的年龄
the pryest bullhog who because of his years
而被公认在动物中智慧绝无伦比
was regarded as by far the wisest of the animals
猪仔们成为会议的先行者
The other pigs started first for the meeting
猪仔们比较聪明 它们自诩为领导者
being clever and found to taking the lead
紧跟它们后面是拳击手
They were followed by Boxer
农庄中最大最强壮的马匹
the largest and strongest of the horses
和它忠实的朋友毛驴本杰明
and his devoted friend Benjamin the donkey
其他大大小小动物忐忑不安来到会场
All the other animals great and small were anxious to get there
因为这样的会议以前从未举♥行♥过
for such a meeting has never been held before
老少校已经病入膏肓 它认为有些事情
Old Major had been ailing and now he had made known there were some things
必须告诉它的动物同胞而不至于太迟
he wanted to say to his fellow animals before it might be too late
动物们花费了一段时间找到各自的座位
It took a while for all to find their seats
猪仔们则占据了最好的位置
The pigs have taken up the best positions

immediatly in front of the platform

mong them Snowball determined to get a good view

And Napoleon equally determined and even less polite

And at last everyone could be settled to hear up Old Major

My dear friends I have lived a long live

I have had much time to thought as I layed alone in my stole

I won’t be with you much longer And before I die there is something I want to tell you
我们从来不会体会到衰老的痛苦
Few of us will ever know the blessings of a piecefull old age
你拳击手 什么时候你将耗尽最后的力量
You Boxer, when you have given the last of your great strength

What then?
无论我们生产什么都会被盗走和变卖♥♥
Whatever we produce is taken from us Stolen from us And sold

Our children are born to cold and hunger

Look at them while you can

You porkers You know what the future holds for you?

Do we deserve such a fate?

Is this farm too poor to support us all

No comrades When the farm is rich

we would never get our rigthfull share from farmer Johns

when you have got rid of Johns Don’t adopt his wises!
我们动物皆兄弟
We animals are brothers
无论大小 无论聪明愚笨 无论飞禽走兽
Large or small clever or simple fur or feathers
从现在直到永远所有动物一律平等
now and forever all animals are equal!
第二天早晨 老少校的预言就实现了
The very next morning – sooner perhaps then Old Majer would have predicted –
动物们发现它们的处境非常难以忍♥受
the animals found their situation quite unbearable
于是，几乎在他们发觉之前
And so almost before they realised it,
动物们已经造♥反♥并且取得胜利
the animals have fought and won
它们为革命烈士悲叹
They had causalties to moan
照顾那些革命烈士的子女
and those who died left children to be cared for
曼诺农庄现在属于它们 他们没等一刻钟便
But manor farm was theirs and they lost no time
开始销毁令他们想起可憎的琼斯先生的一切东西。
in destroying everything that reminded them of hatefull Mr Jermans
当来到琼斯先生的房♥屋时 动物们犹豫了
When it came to Mr Jermans’s house the animals hesitated
拿破仑指路 雪球领队
Napolen showed the way, but Snowball took the lead
进入它们暴君曾经居住的地方
in entering the place where their tyrant had lived
动物们一致同意琼斯的房♥子不得居住。
The animals were all agreed that Johns’s house was no place for them
“一致”，也就是说，除了拿破仑。
All, that is except Napoleon
同时雪球领导其它动物开始建设新社会
Meantime Snowball lead the other animals in organizing a new society
它们称为动物农庄
which they now named Animal Farm

So that all might see and agree

the laws of animal farm where inscribed in a prominent place

为解决农场本身的困境
Tending farm by themselves caused problems to the animals
猪仔们尽力找到一条解决所有困难的途径
but the pigs could figure a way around every difficulty
拳击手受到大家的敬仰
Boxer was the admiration of everybody
在琼斯时期他就吃苦耐劳
He had been a hard worker in Johns’s time
现在看上去更是一个顶三
But now he seemed more like three horses in one
在雪球的指挥下其他动物用尽力气
Instructed by Snowball other animals worked out the rest for themselfes
农场的工作绩效像是奇迹
And the farm work was done like magic
对于工作成果所有动物欢欣鼓舞
The success of their effort delighted everyone
包括拿破仑和它的亲密伙伴肥猪尖嗓子
including the sly Napoleon and his constant companion fat pig Squiler
动物们在没有任何帮助和干涉下
That somer the animals without any help or any interference
决定了动物农庄往何处去的道路
made a going proposition of animal farm
农田肥沃 庄稼收割没有任何一点浪费
The fields yielded richly and they were cut and gleamed with dilettance and devotion
随着农庄的大丰收 动物有足够时间去思考未来
With the harvest safely home the animals had time to think of the future
众多决议通过大谷仓前的大会作出
and at a meeting in the big barn many resolutions were put forward
但始终由猪仔们拍板
It was always the pigs how made the resolutions
同志们 我们第一个五月计划顺利完成
Comrades Our first five month plan is a farmwide triumph
是时候进行宣传报导
and the time has come to spread the glorious news
使我们其他农场同志们
So that our downtrodden comrades on other farms
打破它们的枷锁加入到动物革命中来
will break their chains and join the animal revolution
去吧 告诉它们世界上有一个动物所有的农庄
Go! Tell them on there is an animal farm to the world!
一些动物深受鼓舞
Some animals content with their luck

were unimpressed by tales of peace and plenty
其他动物安于现存
Others happy in their own surroundings
害怕有任何的改变
were alarmed of the sort of any change
但是在那些没有好日子的地方，当地的动物们总是听得非常感兴趣。
But whereever they were having a bad time animals listened with interest
在动物革命过程中众人保持沉默的行为
In certrain quarters the rebellious behavior of a lot of dumb animals
引起了愤慨和争论
caused indignation much conversation
但是没有任何结果
but nothing was done about it
醉酒先生琼斯和他的同伙不知该如何应对
For the drunken Mr Jermans and his cronies did not know what to do
雪球深感教育是动物们所必须
Snowball felt that education was the animals next necessity
当然一些动物比较聪明
Some of the animals were brighter than others of course
四条腿好 两条腿坏
Four legs good two legs bad
在农庄雪球赋予自己独断专行的权利
Snowball set himself to solve the problem of power on the farm
拿破仑亦如此
And so did Napoleon
一月份天气严酷糟糕
In january there came bitterly hard weather
缺乏经验的管理使动物农庄出现了短缺
Inexperienced management brought shortages to animal farm
但是雪球继续自己对于未来的思考
but Snowball continued his thinking for the future
而在这些想法上，他并不是独占的。
And in such thoughts he was not alone

I have prepared a new plan for animal farm
