贺铸
南国本潇洒,
六代浸豪奢。
台城游冶[1],
襞[2]笺能赋属宫娃[3]。
云观登临清夏,
璧月留连长夜,
吟醉送年华。
回首飞鸳瓦,
却羡井中蛙。
访乌衣,
成白社,
不容车。
旧时王谢,
堂前双燕过谁家。
楼外河横斗挂,
淮上潮平霜下,
樯影落寒沙。
商女篷窗罅[4],
犹唱后庭花。

The Terrace Wall
He Zhu

Gallant the Southern land far and wide,
Six Dynasties in opulence vied.
Wine, woman and song on Terrace Wall,
Eight beauties wrote verse in palace hall.
In summer clear they mounted the cloud-scraping height,
Under the jadelike moon they loitered in long night,
They drank and crooned the years away.
Leaving the lovebirds tiles pell-mell
They tried to hide like frogs in a well.
On street of mansions overgrown with grass
No cabs could pass.
The swallows in the mansions of bygone days,
In whose hall now do they stay?
Over the tower the Silver River bars the sky,
The Plough hangs high.
The tide runs up and down on frosty River Huai.
The shadow of townwalls on cold sand falls.
Through the window gap of the bower
I see the songstress sing the Backyard Flower.

He Zhu – 贺铸

《台城游·南国本潇洒》为北宋贺铸的一首金陵怀古词。上片以景入词,叙六朝旧事,述陈后主的荒淫无度、纵情歌舞、寻欢作乐,最终导致国破家亡,身败名裂。下片写寻访遗迹,叹时世变迁,一丝哀愁涌动于心中。而当世的当权者仍不吸取教训,穷奢极欲,令作者捶胸顿足,痛心不已。作者空怀壮志,报国无门,只能做一名区区的武弁,他把吊古伤今之情融入历史的反思和凄清冷寂的画面之中,发人深省,又使人无限叹惋。

此词结构严谨,脉络清皙,对比强烈,引用典故借古讽今,有针砭时弊之效。全作辞情俱佳,在北宋同题词作中,可与王安石《桂枝香·登临送目》、周邦彦《西河·金陵怀古》鼎足而三。

This is a poem by He Chuan of the Northern Song Dynasty. The first piece uses the scenery to narrate the old events of the Six Dynasties, describing the desolation of Lord Chen, his indulgence in singing and dancing, and his pursuit of pleasure, which eventually led to the destruction of the country and his family, and the loss of his reputation. The next piece is about visiting the relics and sighing at the changes of the times, with a touch of sorrow surging in the heart. The author is saddened by the fact that the people in power in the world still do not learn their lesson and are extravagant and desperate. The author’s empty ambition, but there is no way to serve the country, but only to be a district warlord, he put his feelings of hanging the past and sorrowing the present into the reflection of history and the bleak and cold picture, which is thought-provoking and makes people sigh infinitely.

The lyrics are well-structured, clear and contrasting, with allusions to the past and the present. The whole work is good in both rhetoric and sentiment, and can be compared to Wang Anshi’s “Fragrance of Cinnamon – Ascent to Send the Eyes” and Zhou Bongyan’s “West River – Jinling Huai Gu” among other works of the same title in the Northern Song Dynasty.
