Kelan River

I woke up from a nightmare,
felt your shadow by the window,
fleeing my sight and fingertip.
I grab a handful of shattered pebbles,
portraying your smile of every epoch,
without a color.
Fast or slow, the river always flows;
Hate it or love it, life always goes.

A spider ran across the wall,
at eleven eighteen of a silent morning.
The window opens Southwest,
where I stand through those typhoon and smog,
from the forecast in this hour,
from frost’s descent to the summer rain.
Then you smiled and flew away;
then you woke up and went old.

River that runs through the Altai Prefecture of Xinjiang, China, and converges into the Irtysh River.
One of the 24 Chinese Solar Terms, usually around Oct. 23.
The Dragon Boat Festival in early summer. I didn’t translate it literally.
