If I cut off the nerves that are too thin
Will I sleep better?
My heart contains a jail, coloured grey
Locking away the roar of insidiously dark thoughts.

If I stamp out my stubbornness
Will I be enlightened?
You can strike me down with heavy blows
But don’t even think of making me beg for mercy

You are an angel among devils
And so the way you send me a gift of a shattered heart
Is to let me laugh until the very last second
Before I discover a knife buried in my chest

You are an angel among devils
You make hate seem so tacky
Two words: “Thank you” flow from my eyes
You can call me crazy, but don’t you dare call me a fool

Let others piece our story together
I can’t be bothered to explain
How do you explain love?
But if anyone wants to see me shattered

I have already been reborn, undaunted
