饮酒
（二十首其十九）
畴昔苦长饥，投耒去学仕。
将养[1]不得节[2]，冻绥固缠己。
是时向立年[3]，志意多所耻。
遂尽介然分[4]，拂衣归田里。
冉冉[5]星气流[6]，亭亭[7]复一纪[8]。
世路廓悠悠，杨朱所以止。
虽无挥金事[9]，浊酒聊可恃。
“畴昔苦长饥，投耒去学仕”指昔日苦于饥饿，抛开农具去为官，意在指诗人在这期间虽因饥寒而出仕，内心却是不平静的，而归田后依然未能解决意识问题。“是时向立年，志意多所耻”指那时年近30岁，内心为之甚是羞惭，表现了归隐的志趣与对仕途的厌恶。“虽无挥金事，浊酒聊可恃”指虽无挥金乐，浊酒足慰我心田，表明诗人尽管目前的境遇同样贫困，但走的是正途，没有违背初衷，且有酒可以自慰，心里是十分满足的。

[6]星气流：星宿节气运行变化，指时光流逝。
[7]亭亭：时间非常久远。

[9]挥金事：《汉书 ·疏广传》载：汉宣帝时太子太傅疏广辞官归乡后，将皇帝赐予的黄金宴请宾朋，挥金无数。
Wine-drinking Song

Underfed for long in my native land,
I left the hoe to take the pen in hand.
I had not enough to feed my household.
Could we not suffer from hunger and cold?
When I was nearly thirty years of age,
I felt ashamed to face the ancient sage.
Then I resolved to go my former way
To live a rural life to end my day.
Star on star breathes an air current high;
Year by year a dozen springs have gone by.
The way of the world is so wide and long,
Even a philosopher would go wrong.
Though I have no gold to provide a feast,
I may drink cups of home-made wine at least.
